Why you lose in poker.
There is tree basic reasons why typical poker players lose money. It is not easy to overcome this problems but to admit them and try to understand them is a big step in the right direction.
Flawed basic strategy. If you don’t understand what correct play is, don’t expect to be successful. You need to study more poker literature and/or need more experience.
Poor judgment. In No-limit your judgment is a key factor. Call, Reraise or fold? In many situations you are not sure what to do. Are your opponent bluffing or not? With good judgment you make good decisions and becomes a winner. If you are talented enough to play good poker, good judgement will come with experience, you can never learn this from books.
Going on tilt. All poker players have experienced “ Going on tilt “ at one time or another. It means you are playing badly because you are frustrated by your recent results. This is often extremely costly. You can throw away many days profit in a short period of tilt. One way to control going on tilt is to understand and accept that the short term luck factor in poker is very large in relation to the size of the bets. Even if you are playing perfect you will still lose money in the short run in some sessions and there is nothing you can do about it.
