Luck and Poker.

Theoretical poker players and writers tend to underestimate the importance of luck in poker. They say that if you just continue to play your best game hour after hour, day after day, luck will evens out and everybody will have the same amount of it. But there is one problem here, not many will play their best game after a long period of bad luck. Some players will go totally on tilt and loose their whole bankroll. But almost all players will have problems after a long period of bad luck. It’s very common to start playing to tight and too scared. And if you do you will continue too loose and if you cant get over it you will have to stop playing poker.

I’m sure there are lots of very good poker players out there who don’t play anymore because of bad luck.

On the other hand if you are really lucky when you are playing an important pot or a big tournament you will gain in confidence and your game will probably improve.

You cant do anything too improve your luck but you can minimize the effects of bad luck. I believe its best to stop playing when you are really unlucky. And if you have had a long period of bad luck I think its best to take a long break from poker.
